Last June, the Campeonato de Canarias 29er – Trofeo Naviera Armas 2021 was held in the waters of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in the vicinity of Bahía del Puerto de la Luz and Las Palmas.
It was great fun for us to be able to participate in a guided tour around Las Palmas, that enabled us to learn in much more detail about one of our most famous Canarian authors: Benito Pérez Galdós.
Last Monday, 21st June, two representatives from the Spanish Army came to our school in order to recognize Lucía González (Year 12IM) for her contribution to the 8th edition of the Literary Competition “Letter to a soldier” in which she represented BSGC after being selected from Y12 students. In her letter, Lucía expressed her gratitude for the Spanish Army’s work during the pandemic in Operation Balmis.
On Friday 28th May, we awoke with high expectation, knowing that BSGC was going to celebrate Día de Canarias and that the school’s COVID protocols were not going to be an obstacle with students and staff donning our traditional Canarian costumes and reminiscing on times gone by! Such celebrations help us to remember past traditions and allow us to practice our ancient sports and games; ensuring they are not forgotten.
