The commitment of The British School of Gran Canaria (BSGC) is to ensure the health and wellbeing of all school members, and includes providing First Aid care when needed as highlighted within our First Aid Policy.
Although we are aware that the responsibility of primary care is principally that of parents or guardians, BSGC seeks to attend to the daily medical needs of our students, providing first aid attention when required, offering individualised attention to students who have special health needs, or administering medicine with prior authorisation.
For these reasons, BSGC requests detailed and accurate information from families about the needs of our pupils and/or the actions in case of emergency. In addition, the school will only administer medication or medical treatment if it has a precise medical prescription and the written consent of the parents or guardians.
In the event of a medical urgency, the school will always inform the parents and, in the event of an emergency, 112 will also be notified, with the medical service indications and recommendations followed.
