BSGC Years 12 and 13 International Examination Achievements

At the end of May our Year 12 and 13 students finished one of the most challenging academic experiences they will ever have, when they completed their AS and A level international examinations and assessments.

After a well-earned rest and holiday, in mid-August the exciting moment of receiving their exam results finally arrived! This year five subjects were examined in the habitual way, but students taking the majority of AS and A level subjects were awarded Teacher Assessed Grades after a strict and challenging assessment period in which the students could demonstrate their abilities in all aspects of their subjects to ensure they achieved the grades they so richly deserved. Their teachers worked tirelessly throughout the exam term to support them and to assess their work. Students faced this new way of being assessed with patience and resolve and showed their determination to succeed.  And succeed they certainly did!

BSG Year 12 students achieved a 96% pass rate overall, including in Spanish in which the majority of students take the full A level qualification in just one year, and recording a 40% rate of grade A or A*.  Two students achieved an amazing grade A or A* in all four subjects taken, with 6 students achieving 3 A grades.  These results are very promising for the year ahead.

Our Year 13 leavers can also be sincerely proud of their achievements.  In such a changing environment and with concerns about the future ever present, they achieved a brilliant 99% pass rate.  Including the Spanish A level they already held, 49% of their grades were at the highest levels of A and A*.  To highlight some of the scores, one student gained an A* grade in all three subjects taken this year.  Four students now have four A levels all at A or A* level, nine have three A levels all at this level, and thirteen students have at least one A* grade, the maximum attainable.  The Year 13 students leave us for an exciting variety of life paths and for destinations on the island, on the peninsula, in other EU countries and the UK.  We wish all of our BSGC leavers the very best of luck in their studies, gap years and careers and they leave us with heartfelt congratulations.
