POESIAE 2021
To read a poem is to hear it with our eyes; to hear it is to see it with our ears.
Octavio Paz.
With the spirit of spreading the love of learning languages, the Packwood Haugh School in Shropshire invited us to an international poem recitation contest last January. Physical presence, voice, articulation and interpretation were going to be key elements in order to bring poems to life and our students took the challenge using their wonderful recitation skills in order to make their recitation the best, despite the added difficulty of not using their first language. The selection of students who represented the BSGC competed in Spanish, French and German against schools from all over the world (https://www.poesiae.com/schools-involved) and our Sam Cahill proved to be the best reciter as he has been chosen as Global Finalist at Y9 Spanish level. Congratulations to the following students for their participation and especially to Sam for winning the competition. Well done!
