Guiding Philosophy

As a learning focused, non-profit making organisation, we are unequivocally committed to making a difference to our students; guided in our planning, development and educational processes by a clear strategic vision and fundamental principles. This clarity provides direction and certainty of the priorities and values of the school.

Vision

To realise the unique potential of each student, equipping them with the skills, knowledge and values to succeed in an ever-changing world, inspire social responsibility and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Mission

We provide a challenging, internationally recognised British education where excellence in the English language is central. Intellectual curiosity, creativity and a passion for learning are shared by students and teachers as they strive for the highest possible achievement.

We nurture the whole person, including our students' physical and emotional well-being.

We value diversity, as learning and growth arise from open-minded engagement with other cultures and opinions. Our students aspire to be tolerant, caring and responsible citizens who uphold and model the school's core values.

Core Values

Values are the important and enduring beliefs or ideals shared by the members of a culture about what is good or desirable and what is not. These values exert a major influence on the behaviour of an individual and serve as guidelines in all situations.

Our core values timelessly guide and influence decisions, acting as guiding beacons in the daily workings of BSGC.

The Core Values that the British School champion and hold as fundamental are:

  • Honesty
  • Fairness
  • Responsibility
  • Caring
  • Recognising worth in others
  • Respecting yourself
  • Achieving potential

Aims

The aims of the British School of Gran Canaria are;

  • To prepare our students for university education in Britain, Spain and other countries with high levels of academic achievement and a range of life and 21st Century skills.
  • To provide pupils with a wide range of educational experiences and learning opportunities that will prepare them for adult life with confidence.
