The British School of Gran Canaria was founded in 1966 to provide a British education on the island of Gran Canaria. The school has grown and evolved since its establishment but still holds firm to the ideals of its founders, providing a high quality, English medium, British education for families living on Gran Canaria.
The school offers a comprehensive education for students from ages 3-18, incorporating the classes Nursery through to Upper Sixth, using the British terminology. The British National Curriculum is used as the template for the schools teaching, although adjustments and additions to take account local and national expectations and needs. Students in the higher years sit for IGCSE and A Levels examinations prior to their move to university. We pride ourselves of the standards attained in all areas of the school and we are regular evaluated by UK Government authorized inspection teams to ensure we attain and maintain appropriate standards.
The school has two sites; one in Tafira and another in Maspalomas. The site in Tafira offers education for students from 3-18 whilst the South School (Maspalomas) is a Primary school (aged 3-11). The vast majority of students who finish their primary education in the South School transfer to the Tafira site to continue and finish their Secondary education within The British School.
