University Access

BSGC is rightly proud of the range of courses, countries of study and the impressive success achieved by students leaving the school for university studies. The academic grounding and inculcation of lifelong skills and wider learning experiences during their British School education prepares our students to be at the vanguard of learning whilst at university.

Alongside academic preparation, BSGC provides extensive vocational guidance to help students through the process of identifying and selecting their degrees courses and destination for further study. This guidance extends into individualised support in the application process and preparation for potential interviews.

Many BSGC students use the school’s British based qualifications, alongside the EBAU exams, to enter Spanish universities. The school provides classes and teaching support for students preparing for the EBAU examinations, with curricular content dovetailing nicely alongside the A Level syllabi.

Other students choose to study at UK universities, identifying the benefits of continuing a ‘British style’ education within an English language environment. Over the last 8 years, BSGC students have entered some of the top British universities, many of which appear in the World’s Top 100 University List (topuniversities / timeshighereducation), including Oxford University. Although the UK’s status in the EU has changed since Brexit, British universities continue to be viable and important opportunity for our students. Further information is available from the school and via this British Council link.

Similarly, students wishing to continue their studies in the English medium can consider other EU countries for their degree course, with The Netherlands and Belgium offering first language English degree courses, in a full range of subjects from engineering to fashion design to computer science. Ireland is also proving to be an interesting and popular university destination, whilst other BSGC graduates are currently studying in USA, although distance and financial costs may deter some applicants.

We are extremely proud of the range of options open to BSGC graduates, as well as the achievements and the outstanding successes achieved by our former pupils across the world. It is heartening to receive their feedback and gratitude on the preparation and formation gained at The British School.
