The year 7 curriculum is a detailed introduction to art and design which builds on the work completed during year 6. There are three main areas of focus:
- The formal elements of art, for example: shape, line, form, tone, light and colour
- Investigating genres and the work of major art movements from the 20th century
- Exploring the art of other people and cultures
The art departments' aims are to develop pupils' creativity and competence through analysing, investigating, exploring, experimenting, taking risks and learning from mistakes. By engaging pupils curiosity and interest through investigating a range of images and artefacts from different time periods and cultures pupils can understand the role of the artist and art within different societies. Through the development of visual and practical understanding pupils´ gain experience of working and creating art using a variety of different media and processes.
The students researched masks from different cultures and combined them to make their own designs. The masks were constructed in Paper Máche and painted in acrylic.
